Dr. Gourab Bhattacharje (Assistant Professor)

Dr. Gourab Bhattacharje is experienced in conducting research on Computational Structural Biology. He has strong background in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Programming. He is passionate about unraveling molecular mechanisms using various in silico techniques. After finishing high school, he completed his 5-year integrated M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry from IIT Kharagpur (2009). Then, he completed his M.S. in Biology from the University of Utah, USA (2014). After M.S., he worked as a high school Biology teacher in USA for a year. He is NET qualified in Chemistry (2009) and GATE qualified in Mathematics (2018). He then earned his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in Biotechnology (2024). His research area mainly encompasses computational biology and structural biology. He is experienced in Molecular Dynamics Simulations, various Bioinformatics techniques, Protein NMR, and Computer-aided Drug Design. His primary research work involves finding out novel drugs against tuberculosis (TB). He has published several papers in this field and actively working on it. He is also interested to find out effective antiviral drugs against SARS-CoV-2, monkey pox (Mpox), and other pathogenic viruses. He is looking forward to gain more insights in Biology/Bioengineering field by further collaborations. He wants to work with the students for various in-house projects.
